Breckenridge Music Announces Cancellation of its 2020 Summer Season (July 11-August 22)
The Board of Directors announces the cancellation of the 2020 summer season with the health and wellbeing of our supporters, musicians, guests, staff and all the people we serve as our highest priority.
Our leadership made this tough decision with a commitment to advancing Breck Music’s long-term mission – to present diverse and high quality live music performances and broad-based community music education. After a careful analysis of multiple financial scenarios and relevant data sources, and in consultation with our artistic leadership and industry professional networks, there is no question that gathering as planned during this crisis is a risk too great to accept.
Knowing the pandemic is taking a toll on those who make their living as performers, Breck Music will use its resources to provide some level of compensation to our Festival artists. We will maintain the appropriate staffing and infrastructure so that we can restart and adapt in-person events when the time is right. We will sharpen our focus on supporting local families with distance learning music resources. And, we will find responsible, practical and inventive ways to connect you with the experience of music in Breckenridge in an era of physical distancing. These are our priorities.
Many of you, our loyal patrons, make your annual contributions now as we approach the summer season. We recognize the stock market and economy are in flux, but ask you to make your regular annual or Applause contribution to support and sustain Breck Music. Click here to donate now.
For those who have purchased tickets for any of our summer concerts, the Riverwalk Ticket Office will be in touch by email this week to offer three options: 1) a full refund at the point of purchase, 2) to donate the value of the tickets for a fully tax-deductible contribution or 3) a combination of both.
We are deeply disappointed that we are unable to share the incredible line-up of concerts and events that we had planned for you this season. It’s hard to imagine summer in Breckenridge without the music, parties and people we all love so much and the inspiration it brings. But, with your help, Breck Music will emerge from this pandemic and lead the celebration of our shared humanity with great music.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support; it means more to us now than ever before.

How will you know when it’s safe to present concerts again?
We are in regular contact with other organizations across our community and within our industry nationwide to make sure we are anticipating future changes and that we are ready to reopen as soon as it is safe to do so. In the meantime— and throughout this pandemic— Breck Music will continue to follow guidelines from government agencies and our public health partners, including the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO), the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment (CDPHE), and Summit County Public Health.
Once concerts return, how will you assure patrons’ health?
In March, Breckenridge Creative Arts, our umbrella organization, began the process implementing new health protocols to exceed guidelines set by government agencies. Once the Riverwalk and other public venues reopen, we will offer protocols that meet or exceed all requirements for the health and safety of our patrons, staff, artists, and volunteers.
Are you offering online content during the pandemic?
Yes! We are curating responsible, practical and inventive ways to connect you with the experience of music in Breckenridge in an era of physical distancing. Check back regularly for opportunities like these.
What are your refund policies?
For all cancelled concerts scheduled from July 11 through August 22, 2020, we are offering patrons a choice of three options: 1) a full refund at the point of purchase, 2) to donate the value of the tickets for a fully tax-deductible contribution or 3) a combination of both. Ticket-buyers will be notified after May 4th. If you have any questions or concerns, please email the Riverwalk Ticket Office at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 970-547-3100. Include your name and order number.
