Musician of the Month
Breckenridge Music is thrilled to continue our second year of the Musician of the Month program. This student recognition program selects high school students nominated by their music teacher, not only for their excellence as musicians but for the dedication, leadership, and commitment to their entire school community. Each month teachers are asked to nominate an outstanding musician in a particular category including, Jazz Musicians, Brass Players, Wind Players, Percussionists, Guitarists, Pianists, Orchestra Members, Band Members etc. Press releases and pictures of the award recipients are sent out to the Summit Daily News monthly and featured on the Breck Music website and e-newsletters.

Ellyn Lew
June Musician of the Month
Year: Junior Senior
Instrument: Vocalist
Ellyn Lew is a Junior attending Summit High School in Frisco. Accepted into the National Honor Choir in New York City and All State Choir in Denver, singing has been a major focus of Ellyn’s life. She has played a part in several local theatre productions around the county, some roles including Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz, Mary Poppins in Mary Poppins Jr, and ensemble in Sweeny Todd: the Demon Barber of Fleet Street. Although she is unsure of her path to come later in life, she plans on keeping music a part of it.
Jesselyn Brown
May Musician of the Month

Grade: Senior
Jesselyn Brown is a senior at Summit High School who has been a member of Summit Singers for four years. Jesselyn began her musical journey in middle school by playing the violin and when she transitioned to high school wanted to explore her passion for singing. Jesselyn has a natural talent and an incredible sense of leadership. She is the Alto section leader and Co-Captain of Summit Singers. Jesselyn is one of three students who auditioned, and qualified for, All State Choir this year. This is the first in four years that a student has qualified for All State Choir and it is such an amazing accomplishment. Jesselyn is also an extremely talented actor and artist. Her creativity flows with abundance and shows in her joy of singing; especially singing musical theatre songs. Jesselyn will be pursuing another of her passions, marine biology, at the University of Hawaii in the fall and music will always be with her.
Patrick Middlebrook
April Musician of the Month
Instrument: Trumpet
Grade: Senior
Patrick Middlebrook is a trumpet player who has been in Summit High School Symphonic Band and Jazz Band, earned the spot of lead trumpet in the All-Region Jazz Band and second chair trumpet in all of Northwest Colorado in the All-Region Symphonic Band. Patrick has shown exceptional leadership in the SHS Jazz and Symphonic bands, and has pursued advanced music studies through DP Music. He has also been very involved with the tech side of Breckenridge Backstage Theater.
Jacob Brewer
March Musician of the Month
Instrument: French Horn and Jazz Guitar
Grade: Junior
Jacob stands out in the Summit High School music program thanks to his passion for music, his leadership skills, and his outstanding musical talent. Jacob has been a talented French horn player in the Summit High School bands, the Summit Concert Band, and the Summit Youth Orchestra, providing leadership to those in his section and across each ensemble. He has also been selected multiple times for the All-Region CMEA District 8/Northwest Colorado honor band, is a 3-year member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society, earning multiple varsity letters in music, has been heavily involved in theater both on stage and as a pit orchestra member, and is a member of the Thespian Honor Society. He has been a four-year member of the SHS jazz band and has been selected to the all-region jazz band as a guitarist. Jacob has a thorough grasp of the jazz genre, and serves as a leader in the group. Jacob’s musical and stage presence skills have been honed even further as a member of the Pine Beatles Band, a professional group that regularly plays gigs in our resort community of Summit County.
Isabela Imamura
February Musician of the Month
Instrument: Vocals
Grade: Senior
Isabela is a senior who has performed locally at the Backstage Theatre and Lake Dillon Theatre Company as well as at SMS and SHS. Isabela has been an indispensable member of our music department at Summit High School, showing outstanding talent and dedication through her role as Soprano II section leader. She is actively involved in other school organizations such as four honor societies, of which she is president of one, Tri-M, as well as a member of National Honor Choir, the Lead and Seed Club and the Interact Club. Isabela is one of three students who auditioned and was accepted into All State Choir this year. Isabela has dedicated her life thus far to excelling in school while balancing her passion for music and theatre.
Soledad Borrego
January Musician of the Month
Instrument: Flute
Grade: Senior
Soledad Borrego is a senior at SHS who has a passion for music and theatre. She has been a member of the SHS Band where she plays the flute and a member of Summit Singers, the top auditioned choir at Summit High School, where she sings 2nd soprano. Soledad recently auditioned for, and was accepted to, the National Honor Choir at Carnegie Hall in New York. Soledad is also the president of the International Thespian Honor Society and is the secretary of the Tri-M Honor Society (music honor society.) Soledad is a born leader and her passion for music and theatre shows in all that she does. Soledad often volunteers around the county performing in SHS’s Maraiachi group and with Summit Singers singing at the Riverwalk Center. She has applied to, and been accepted at, Colorado University at Boulder but has numerous other Universities that she is interested in where she will pursue her studies. Music and theatre will always be a part of her life and they have brought her a lot of joy over the years.
